 July Business Lunch 2010
We celebrated with over 60 women and a gent at our July business lunch, significantly a milestone - it was Inspiring Women’s fifth birthday! Congratulations to Inspiring Women’s contribution to the lives of Women in business.

“Thank you Sue, for your passion and vision in creating a network of Business women on the northern beaches. An environment where women can relax, renew and be themselves. Providing the opportunities for our women to network, build friendships and quench the thirst of knowledge in all areas of life, business and one another.

Recognised as the longest running business women’s network group on the beaches, Inspiring Women has been an integral part of our local women’s business – from growth, opportunities to remove the isolation of working alone at the top or from home, to support and encourage one another through building friendships and doing business with one another. “

Inspiring Women has made a difference in the lives of many business women during the past five years, through creating an amazing safe environment that no topic is taboo – ladies can ask those awkward or embarrassing questions without fear of judgement. Even when it comes to sex.

Our guest speak, Bettina Arndt, renown sex therapist and author of “The Sex Diaries”. Why Women Prefer Chocolate - a topic not normally discussed openly, however, readily intrigued the attention of all attending, Bettina’s ability to make one ponder on thought, laugh at themselves, be informative through her research by sharing true stories -  that all could relate to or have been in similar situations, had the same thoughts and caused an awakening within.

Laugher and reality checks with the joys of sex and erotica thrown into the equation, serious focus as Bettina reminded us that it is critical to communicate, be willing to be receptive. Fear, perception and expectation all contribute to, unfortunately, assumptions being made.

Bettina’s message spoke volumes that we have to stop making assumptions and ‘get good at communicating’, to understand truths about different needs and different solutions. ‘Put the canoe into the water and start paddling and see where it goes’ was her recommendation.

For those who missed out, her book is available “The Sex Diaries” 2009 described as an astonishing expose revealing how ordinary couples negotiate their sexual supply. Ninety eight couples spent up to a year keeping diaries which showed in intimate detail how they dealt with mismatched libido. The result is a challenging, thought-provoking analysis of desire, showing how men and women cope with their distinctly different sexual drives. Women lie in bed worrying the hand will come creeping over. Men spend their lives groveling for sexual favours. The gap between them in bed becomes a chasm. Through the power of his-and-hers diaries, we see what happens day by day, night by night, as the couples negotiate their way through this sexual minefield.”

If you have The Sex Diaries (published 2009) Bettina’s new book is about to be launched “What Men Want” – look out for it as it is released August 2010 - just in time for Father’s Day
